About this Event
WHY THIS EVENT NOW?
The mounting crisis and shifting tactics raise unprecedented risks for many immigrants residing in the USA. Recent policies also constitute enormous challenges to families and individuals who seek refuge in the USA, usually from life-threatening threats and stifling hardship they are fleeing. Previous immigrants and refugees have historically hoped for greater security and opportunities in the USA. And expected just treatment under American law as well as human rights protected in the US Constitution and the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights that was endorsed by the USA and the other 192 UN member governments.
WHAT’S THE FORUM ABOUT?
The Forum’s panel of experienced professionals (and some migrants) will address three principal issues: the UN and US context of rights and law; current challenges and threats; as well as resources and action-oriented measures to defeat/deter/defend the rights and interests of migrants and refugees.
Panelists’ remarks will be followed by Q&A and discussion with participants.
- This is a Free event. However. donations are invited: 75% received will go to organizations protecting refugee/immigrant rights and needs;
- Light refreshments will be offered, when panelists will be available for discussion
