About this Event

Want to learn more about immersive media and the job landscape?

Immersive Media encompasses an evolution of technologies from the magic lantern shows of the 18th century, the popularity of stereoscopes of the 19th century, through radio, movies, TV, computer graphics, electronic gaming, VR, AR, generative art, and the immersive location based experiences now coming online. Hype cycles have come and gone. Companies rise and fall. Is the metaverse the future or an overhyped buzzword commandeered by Meta? Is AR becoming an indispensable part of life or a specialized tool?

This hybrid series is a comprehensive survey of the technologies, processes, and applications of immersive media with demonstrations, lectures, guest speakers, and participatory challenges. Guest speakers will include industry experts, entrepreneurs and faculty.

By the end of the series, attendees will have a grasp of the terminology, the landscape, production processes, and range of applications for immersive media. Together we will speculate on what the future holds.
