About this Event

Bringing opportunity and industry together to support the creative sector in Wales.

Join us for the University of South Wales’ annual Creative Industries Careers Fair, taking place as part of Immersed26 – a multi-media festival of music, film, art, fashion, and performance curated by creative industries students and supported by Welsh Government via Creative Wales and in partnership with UK Music and Music Declares Emergency.

Connect with over 40 exhibitors from across the creative landscape, including venues, theatres, festivals, production companies, record labels, creative agencies, educators, media and broadcasting, retailers, and more – all ready to meet and support the next generation of creative talent. Whether you’re seeking work experience or exploring long-term career pathways, this is your opportunity to engage directly with industry professionals.

The fair features a packed day of activity – including interactive workshops, expert-led roundtables, and mentorship sessions delivered by experienced professionals – offering invaluable learning and networking opportunities within the Immersed community. Please Note that some events have limited capcity and well operate on a first come basis.

Plus – don’t miss the Immersed Mixer, curated by Cardiff Music City and supported by Cardiff Council, straight after the fair in the Students’ Union Bar, Atrium. Join for exclusive new music, networking, and festival fringe hospitality, extending conversations into the evening with live music, informal networking, and community celebration. The lineup will showcase a mix of Cardiff’s emerging artists and local favourites, giving a first glimpse of the city’s vibrant music scene—full details coming soon.

USW Careers are available if you need any help to prepare or to approach employers on the day, just let us know on the booking form or when you arrive.

If crowds aren’t your thing – our quiet hour takes place 3-4pm

Agenda

🕑: 10:00 AM - 10:15 AM
Welcome and UK Music Introduction

Info: UK Music represents the collective interests of the UK’s commercial music industry. Its mission is to support, protect, and grow music in all its forms, advocating for artists, songwriters, producers, and music businesses. From shaping policy to fostering creative and economic opportunities, UK Music drives initiatives that ensure the UK remains a global hub for musical innovation.

🕑: 10:15 AM - 11:00 AM
Roundtable 1: The Alchemy of Sound – AI, Authenticity & Future of Creativity
Host: Dr Oliver Morris, Director of Education at UK Music

Info: Artificial Intelligence is reshaping every part of the music ecosystem — from composition to curation, A&R to audience analytics. This session explores the creative, ethical, and emotional implications of this transformation. In the spirit of “Believe in Magic”, it asks whether technology can ever replicate the ineffable spark of human creativity, and how creators, educators, and industry leaders can navigate this hybrid landscape.

🕑: 11:10 AM - 11:55 AM
Roundtable 2: Redesigning Business for a Living Planet
Host: Lewis Jamieson, CEO at Music Declares Emergency

Info: Music Declares Emergency’s call — “No Music on a Dead Planet” — highlights the urgency of systemic change in the creative industries. This discussion explores how labels, artists, events and festivals can pioneer regenerative business models that serve both people and the planet. It connects sustainability with imagination, rethinking success and growth in the music economy while highlighting actionable strategies for a greener, more resilient future.

🕑: 12:05 PM - 12:50 PM
Roundtable 3: The Sync Frontier – Music, Media & the New Creative Economy
Host: Dr Oliver Morris, Director of Education at UK Music

Info: As film, TV, games, advertising, TikTok, and virtual platforms evolve, sync has become one of the most dynamic and opportunity-rich areas of the music industry. What was once a licensing niche is now a major driver of artist discovery, revenue diversification, and cultural storytelling. This session explores how creators, rights holders, and educators can navigate the fast-shifting world of sync — from metadata mastery and rights clarity to creative pitching, brand alignment, and AI-enabled discovery. Like the perfect pairing of music and picture, the discussion aims to illuminate how sync can amplify both artistic identity and commercial potential.
