This play is an acknowledgement of the immigrant journey — the unseen conflicts, dilemmas, and moments of beauty that arise when arriving in a new country, and that persist even after years of living abroad. Imigrante da Silva Santos — A Theatre of the Oppressed Play reflects how theatre and real life overlap, reminding us that the creative work behind the scenes can carry our struggles, contradictions, and uncertainties, while also expressing our assertiveness, our bonds and boundaries as Brazilian immigrants, and our sense of belonging — holding, always, our hope for transformation and growth in the experience of living abroad.
