The dynamic, charismatic woodwind quintet — recognized for their role in transforming the chamber wind genre — will inspire listeners with Shawn Okpebholo’s musical journey portraying the struggle for racial justice and with works based on real and folkloric depictions of birds — including a vivid work by Augusta Read Thomas and a compelling transcription of Stravinsky’s vibrant Firebird Suite. Four Imani members join pianist Efi Hackmey in Beethoven’s exuberant Quintet for Piano and Winds.
