About this Event
Join opaque collective for our first event of the year. Based on the liberatory practice of Sol Davis and Amanda Zhou titled breaking is/freeing/broken is/fredom/i am not/broken i am free, this event will involve hands-on collaborative art making. Please bring items that you no longer need. Examples of such items include: old clothing, food wrappers, cans, letters, book pages, newspaper, plastic bags, jewelry, CDs, etc. In addition to this activity, we will be having a conversation about sustainable art practices in today’s day and age. We will be exploring various ways Black artists can support each other and create infrastructure to be self-sustaining.
This in-person event is an opportunity to reimagine the arts economy in a way that best supports artists and protects our work. During this event, we will be serving light refreshments and bites.
Join us for an exciting evening at Fourtunehouse Art Center at 4410 S Cottage Grove, Chicago, IL, 60653 from 5 - 8 PM. We hope to see you there!
