IMAGINING POSSIBLE FUTURES
Over the past decade, V!LD has explored how visuality, art and education can respond to social, political, technological, and environmental change.
Marking our ten-year anniversary, this year’s conference focuses on the futures of visuality, art and education. We invite the conference participants to reflect on how multiple, interconnected human and non-human futures are shaped in the present and how art and education help to imagine, create, and contest such futures.
Key themes discussed in the conference include the ongoing climate crisis, the shifting ecological and technological imaginaries of human agency, the increasingly digitalised and algorithmic visual cultures, and the rise of deceptive and unstable visual and political environments. Together, these themes offer a ground for critical dialogue on how visuality, art, and education may shape possible futures in uncertain times.
