About this Event

Imagine Colombia is a community celebration inspired by the richness of Colombia's diverse heritage, embodying themes around peace, reconciliation and the search for an optimistic future. In 2016 Colombia signed a peace agreement and although we still face many challenges, we are in transit to an era of post-conflict. Creative interdisciplinary artists, dancers, musicians, poets and storytellers will be sharing our collective and individual memories of human rights struggles, peace, reconciliation and resilience. Six decades of war have left many scars on the fibre of our community, to overcome our painful past we have turned to creativity and art as a way to build new social paths in a post-conflict era. Our diaspora has a diverse cultural heritage nurturing a wide palette of artists whose creativity borrows from hybrid forms of traditional and contemporary art practice. The festival brings a message of community resilience and hopes for a better future.
