About the Artist
Evan Forrest Mann (b. 1985, Colorado Springs, Colorado; lives and works in Denver) is an Emmy® Award-winning film director who finds painting to be both a “cathartic release” and a powerful weapon against the digital machine which unceasingly infiltrates itself upon human existence. His approach to landscape painting spans from “plein air” visual observation to imaginative mark making. The former requires frequent pilgrimages into the wilderness to “become stricken by a moment of awe” and the latter delves into the inner landscape which unveils superterrestrial and otherworldly places. His work has been exhibited at the Hammer Museum, Art Basel Miami, and the Denver Art Museum, has been featured in New American Paintings, and is in the permanent collections of the Holter Museum and RISD Museum. Mann firmly believes analog art-making is essential to preserve the tradition of being truly human. He is currently represented by Visions West Contemporary.
