Illustrated Voices Opening Reception
Beacon Midtown Gallery and Studios presents Illustrated Voices, an imaginative exhibition featuring 12 San Antonio artists with bold, diverse illustrative styles. Curated by Cody Vance of Vance Art Studio, the show explores contemporary visual storytelling through traditional drawing and painting. Vivid, playful, and thought-provoking, the work reflects a world of turbulence, absurdity, beauty, and wisdom.
Featuring artwork by Angela Weddle, Alethia Jones, Barbara Felix, Becca Coffee, David Peche, Gary Sweeney, Kim Bishop, Angel Ayala, Raul Rene Gonzales, Thelma Muraida, Wardell Picquet, and Cody Vance.
Free and open to the public — come experience the many voices of illustration.

ABOUT THE CURATOR
A multidisciplinary artist, Cody Vance's primary fine art focus for the last 17 years has been stone sculpture, yet the fundamentals of drawing and illustration are foundational to all artwork. Recent highlights include presenting at the national summit Artist Thrive 2026, a solo exhibition at the historic Carver Community Cultural Center in 2024 titled “Loving Influence,” and a commission for Coca-Cola Southwest Beverage to create an illustration honoring Veteran’s Day for their monthly Texas artist spotlight media campaign in 2022.
A member of the Texas Sculpture Group, Vance is featured with over 100 fellow sculptors in the 2025 Contemporary Texas Sculpture book. Cody is also an instructor of stone carving techniques at the Southwest Stone Carving workshops in New Mexico. His home gallery exhibits his most recent body of work to include a catalog of paintings and illustrations depicting the charro and folklorico cultures of South Texas and Mexico.
