About this Event
Class Description
The Good Shepherd Defense Illinois Concealed Carry Training Renewal class is designed for anyone who has an Illinois concealed carry permit that is due to expire within the next year. A licensee is ineligible to renew their license once it has expired and is required to take the 16-hour training course and submit a new license application.
Part of this course will be held at our indoor range where you will complete the shooting portion consisting of your live fire qualification. The live fire qualification consists of a review of handgun fundamentals, concealment techniques, and a live fire shooting exercise which includes a minimum of 30 rounds being fired in the following manner:10 rounds from a distance of 5 yards;
10 rounds from a distance of 7 yards; and
10 rounds from a distance of 10 yards at a B-27 silhouette target approved by the IL State Police.
The rest of the course will be a classroom setting and will include training on the all applicable State and Federal laws relating to the ownership, storage, carry, and transportation of a firearm. In these two hours we will discuss what laws have changed since you last attended a training and we will also review important laws you need to know. Missing the range portion means you will not qualify for the renewal. Students will receive all necessary paperwork and certificates at the class.
Why take our courses?
Our course focuses more than “just what you need to know” to get by, or the absolute “minimum”. We drive home the sincerity and importance of firearm safety, the basic shooting fundamentals, and the proper mindset to confidently operate a firearm.
