About this Event

Have you considered how effective peer support may be for enhancing your business objectives and growth?

Our "Surprising Power of Peer Support at Work" workshop invites you to explore peer support and its role through hand on exercises, so you can equip yourself with practical skills to enhance innovation, resilience, and leadership within your business.

In our workshop, we will work together on:

  • What value does peer support have in business?
  • What are active listening and empathy?
  • How to use peer support for innovation.
  • How to build resilience through support.
  • What is effective leadership in a peer network?
  • How can empathy contribute to better leadership and team dynamics?

We draw on the latest research and best practices from the Help to Grow Programme to practice what may be the most effective resource you have in your service and industry. This workshop offers engaging activities that promote peer support and enhance the outcomes of the session. Hope to see you there!

About our speaker: Bahare Afrahi

In my role as an associate professor of entrepreneurship and innovation at Kingston University Business School in London, I facilitate learning on innovation and design thinking with particular attention to people’s role in them. These are subjects close to my heart and my research explores their intersections in practices of designing and innovating. Why am I interested in these areas? Because I think they can help us be more empathetic towards those with and for whom we design and be more understanding of varying needs and what we/people are trying to achieve when using a product or service. I lead the national Help to Grow Management Programme and the Selby Trust Project, Centre for Entrepreneurship Excellence, where we help cultivate SME leaders’ thinking around business growth and what it takes: innovation, strategy, vision, winning new markets, employee engagement, finance, and operations.

My innovation experience has been shaped through work as an entrepreneur, co-founder, and employee in a range of industries and markets including retail, tech, publishing, education, and engineering in Scandinavia, Middle East, and the UK.

What makes my work most exciting? Cultivating people’s imagination and helping them innovate while encouraging a learner’s enthusiasm. I believe everyone carries a true spirit of entrepreneurship – it just needs a bit of nudge to shine through ...
