Ikebana Workshops in Helsinki – Seika Style for Beginners
From mid-April to mid-September in Helsinki, I offer three-hour Ikebana workshops for beginners, held on selected weekend afternoons (Saturdays and/or Sundays). Each session is designed for 1–2 participants, creating a relaxed and personal learning environment.
The workshop begins with a brief introduction to the history and techniques of the Seika style of Ikebana, which I have studied in Japan over the past fifteen years under the guidance of masters and passionate practitioners. Following the introduction, I support each participant in creating their own floral arrangement using seasonal materials provided for the session, inspired by both traditional patterns and the flowers at hand.
With a background rooted in a family of professional gardeners, tree growers, and florists, I developed hands-on floral skills early in life while working in our family business. Since then, I have continued to practice Ikebana as a dedicated non-professional, having studied in Tokyo and refined my approach over a decade.
These workshops offer a soft, playful, and mindful introduction to the art of Ikebana, an experience I’m happy to share with you.
