About this Event
Ikebana Japanese Origami Flower Arrangement
Sunday, August 17, 2025
2:00 PM– 3:30 PM
Instructor: Irene Gomulka
Let’s have some fun with Ikebana and make a unique Ikebana floral arrangement.
Ikebana is a national Japanese treasure, which is over 500 years old. Irene will share the history of Ikebana and also show the traditional tools used for creating Ikebana arrangements.
Origami is the Japanese art of folding paper. Ori-bana is the art of folding floral materials to make an Ikebana arrangement. This will be a very unique and experiential class and no two arrangements will look exactly like.
A glass vase and plant materials will be provided. Please bring scissors to use in this class.
Class size is limited and registration must be completed by Thursday August 14th 2025 at 1:00pm.
Registration includes admission to the beautiful gardens before or after class.

Irene is a licensed instructor in the Sogetsu School of Ikebana from Japan. She is the Chairperson of the Sogetsu Orlando Study Group and is a recent recipient of the Ikebana Iwaya Fund’s Memorial Teaching Scholarship.
