About this Event
Discover Italy through its cinema—not only a screening, also a conversation: teacher Barbara guides a discussion that brings the movie, its cultural context, and Italy to life.
Join us for an Italian cinema evening at our next Cine Club meeting on Friday, February 27th!
We’ll be screening Io non ho paura by Gabriele Salvatores, a gripping tale of childhood, secrecy, and moral awakening set in rural southern Italy during the 1970s.
The film follows Michele, a nine-year-old boy who stumbles upon a terrifying secret hidden in the countryside: a kidnapped child kept in a pit near his village. As Michele struggles with fear and the loss of innocence, he is forced to confront the dark realities of the adult world and the choices that test courage, loyalty, and compassion.
Come for a cinematic journey that captures the fragile beauty of childhood alongside the harsh truths of society, enriched by a discussion with teacher Barbara designed to deepen your understanding of the film, its cultural references, and Italy’s complex social fabric.
The movie will be screened in Italian with English subtitles, making it accessible for all levels of language proficiency.
