About this Event
The annual design charette is an opportunity for the best and brightest students to showcase their abilities in a one-day design challenge! This year's charette will be held in person with teams being comprised of students from different schools and years, coming together to work toward one solution. Each team will present their solution to a jury of esteemed interior designers, architects, and industry leaders. Winners will be awarded a cash prize!
Member Student: IIDA Student Member and currently enrolled in an Interior Design or related undergraduate college program in Oregon.
Non-Member Student: Non-member Student currently enrolled in an Interior Design or related undergraduate college program in Oregon
Your health and safety are important to us! Please do not attend if you are sick or experience COVID-19 symptoms within 10 days of the charrette.

Q: What is a charette/what does it entail?
A: The charette is a fast-paced mini design problem where you get to strategize and work with fellow interior design students from other schools.
Q: Who will I be teamed with?
A: Each team will be composed of students from various grade levels and differing schools. This challenge allows you the chance to work with students you might not normally work with!
Q: How much experience do I need or what do I need to prepare?
A: No experience needed! Just come with a positive attitude and a willingness to dive in and learn from the experience.
Q: What are the benefits of participating?
A: You will have the opportunity to network and work with students from other schools, and the chance to win a cash prize.
Q: What happens after the event?
A: You will have fantastic memories! You’ll also be able to include your experience on your resume!
Q: What do I need to bring with me?
A: Bring whatever supplies you’d like! Only requirement is a laptop/charger. Additional supplies (paper, pens, rulers, etc.) will be provided.
Q: How do I get there?
A: Drive & carpool! Transportation reimbursement (in the form of virtual Visa giftcards) will be available to drivers who travel from outside Newberg and carpool with 1+ other people.
Q: Will food be provided?
A: Yes! Lunch [with a variety of options considering dietary needs] will be provided during the event.
Q: How much does it cost to participate?
A: $5 for IIDA Student Members, $15 for Non-Member Students.
