Join us for a lunch and a CEU: Leading Modernism:The Designers Who Forwarded the Movement focuses on the interconnections between designers and the way they shaped the differing expression of modernism at Herman Miller and Knoll, two companies that sit at the center of midcentury modernism. Marcel Breuer, Eero Saarinen [pronounced s-ARE-in-en], Florence Knoll, Gilbert Rohde, Charles and Ray Eames, Harry Bertoia, Alexander Girard, George Nelson—the list of designers who worked with Herman Miller and Knoll reads like a pantheon of design greats. They were a mixture of colleagues, friends, and sources of inspiration for each other. They were also the sparks that ignited the flames of modernism in America.
