TADC Inaugural Dance & Culture Summit- Elevating Pedagogy, Practice, and Culture
The Texas Association for Dance and Culture (TADC) proudly presents the Inaugural Dance & Culture Summit: Elevating Pedagogy, Practice, and Culture, a one-day professional development and enrichment experience designed to inspire educators, students, artists, and community members through the power of dance and cultural learning.
Hosted at the Nancy Watten Technology and Event Center, this summit creates a space where participants can learn, collaborate, and celebrate diverse dance traditions while building meaningful connections across Texas.
The summit will begin with a special Opening Ceremony and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony, marking the launch of this exciting initiative dedicated to advancing dance education, cultural awareness, and artistic excellence.
Two Learning Tracks
Educator Track
Designed for dance educators, directors, classroom teachers, arts advocates, and community leaders, the educator track focuses on both pedagogy and practice. Sessions will explore teaching strategies, cultural context, curriculum development, and movement practices. Classes will include:Country Western Dance, Flamenco, Ballet Folklórico, Modern Dance, Movement-Based Instruction, Lecture and discussion sessions on pedagogy and cultural practices, and more.
These offerings represent just a portion of the professional development opportunities available, with additional classes and sessions to be announced.
Participants in the educator track may earn 7 Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours, making this experience both professionally enriching and immediately applicable to the classroom.
Student Track (8th-12th grade students )
Students of all experience levels are invited to participate in an exciting day of movement and learning. Participants will have the opportunity to take four master classes taught by experienced instructors. Classes will include: Hip Hop, Flamenco, Modern, and Folklorico.
All levels are welcome, making this an excellent opportunity for students to expand their training, experience new dance genres, and learn from master teachers in a supportive environment.
Registration
Student Registration: $55
Educator Registration: $100
Group Educator Registration Discount: $75 per educator when three or more educators from the same school register together in the same transaction.
This discounted rate encourages schools and departments to attend as teams, collaborate with colleagues, and bring new ideas and practices back to their campuses.
Networking and Collaboration
The Dance & Culture Summit is more than a professional development event—it is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships and strengthen the dance education community. Participants will have opportunities to network with educators, directors, artists, students, and advocates from across Texas while sharing ideas, resources, and best practices.
