Matinee Musicale’s 125th anniversary season continues with American cellist Ifetayo Ali-Landing! Quickly establishing herself as one of today’s leading young artists, Ali-Landing has earned praise for her “charismatic” playing (Chicago Tribune) and has been described as a “powerhouse” by Classical MPR. Ali-Landing has twice given virtual performances for Matinee Musicale, and now we get to experience her in person.This concert features multiple Duluth connections:
Valse Serenade (1901) by noted Duluth composer, cellist and teacher Ernest Lachmund
Vesper Waltz (2024) by contemporary Duluth composer Wendy Durrwachter
Duluth pianist Teresa Vaughan will accompany Ali-Landing
