Aliyah Denea Lacombe, a Haitian-American artist, presents her solo exhibition, “If Only Birds Could Sing”, at the Hygienic Art Basement Gallery. This immersive experience is filled with artwork that reflects ancestral stories as they transform and evolve throughout the African diaspora. Aliyah works with natural materials, clay, driftwood, shells, sand, and charcoal, to create paintings, sculptures, and installations. These visual expressions are accompanied by live music and instruments of the African diaspora, brought by Kevin DeShields. Join us Saturday, September 27th at 6pm for this exhibition that offers a space to connect, remember, and honor those who came before us and their stories.
