Idea Generation Session | Canarsie

The Flossy Organization is hosting an Idea Generation session to help you identify your community needs and brainstorm ideas for expense projects!

Background:

The Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) announced the launch of a new cycle of “The People’s Money” — NYC’s citywide participatory budgeting process! All New Yorkers age 11 and up will be able to decide how to spend part of the city budget in their borough. Last year, the CEC ran this process for the first time in NYC history, inviting thousands of residents to participate.

Through a robust and inclusive engagement process, over 200 groups, entities, and community based organizations submitted proposals to host idea generation sessions across the five boroughs, where residents will be invited to brainstorm ideas for creative projects. Projects will then be developed into ballot proposals, which will be voted on by residents in each borough. Winning projects will then be implemented starting in July of 2025.

Until November 19th, the CEC and a diverse group of over 100 partner organizations will be opening their doors to host idea generation sessions. All New Yorkers are invited to attend sessions in their borough! Residents will also be able to submit ideas and find further idea generation sessions via the CEC’s online platform: participate.nyc.gov
