Suitable for complete beginners with a group size no bigger than 8 people.This course introduces you to the essential tools and techniques of drawing. You will learn how to use different pencil grades, putty rubbers, and charcoal, and explore how varied marks can create different qualities of line and texture. You will develop your understanding of shape and space through the use of negative space, and learn straightforward measuring methods to check proportion and perspective. You will also develop your understanding of tone, using variations of light and dark to build depth and form in your drawings.
Throughout the course, you will draw from life and from secondary images, while also exploring the approaches used by other artists. By the end of the course, you will have gained a strong, practical understanding of the foundational skills needed for confident drawing.
Course dates : Tuesday 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 June 10am - 12pm
