HYBRID Training October 7 & 8th 1:30 - 4:30 pm Eastern and 12:30 - 3:30 pm Central. Weaving in the Community to Serve as ICWA QEW: This training will provide practice implications and cultural considerations for professionals to recruit and train the community to serve and testify as QEW’s. A guest speaker and subject matter expert will share information on the development of a Tribal ICWA QEW recruitment and training program for elders, social workers, counselors, and others to be a supportive circle of care to protect our most valuable resource, our children.
Rita (Willis) Hart is a citizen of Jicarilla Apache Nation and descendant of the Choctaw Nation lives with her family in the Chickasaw Territory, Oklahoma. She has a master’s in social work and 30 plus years’ experience in the tribal, state, national child welfare and ICWA arena. Currently, she provides consultant services to enhance relational and cultural practices through training and tailored capacity building services.
Kelly Tannehill, MSW has over 22 years of experience in working with tribal/state child welfare and social service including technical assistance, policy/practice, training, and support. She is a consultant and adjunct professor at the University of Oklahoma Social Work program for Master level students. As a Program Field Representative with the Department of Human Services Child Welfare since 2015, she served as a liaison and trainer for tribal/state collaboration, ICWA compliance, and foster care licensing.
