ICC Florida Permit Tech Chapter Conference Exam Prep

The 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM course, including a lunch break from 12:00 PM – 1:30 PM, is designed to help prepare participants for the ICC (14) Permit Technician Certification Exam by familiarizing them with the relevant code books and teaching them how to quickly and accurately find essential code information. While the primary focus is ICC PT exam preparation, the course also serves as a valuable resource for anyone wishing to learn or refresh their knowledge of code administration. The emphasis is on teaching participants where to find answers in the code books, rather than memorizing the content.

Course Objectives:
• Develop a thorough understanding of the International Building Code (IBC) chapters enforced by Permit Technicians, as well as the International Zoning Code (IZC), Legal Aspects of Code Administration, and Basic Code Enforcement. Participants will build skills to efficiently navigate these resources and quickly locate information on occupancy classifications, construction types, definitions, building interiors, permit fees, zoning, and signage.
• Prepare participants for the ICC (14) Permit Technician Certification Exam by introducing effective test‑taking strategies, including how to mark and annotate code books for fast reference.
• Equip participants with practical skills to confidently use all four relevant code books, enabling quick and accurate information retrieval during the exam without memorizing every detail.
