With October being Accreta Awareness Month, join us to support the National Accreta Foundation for a laid back 5k walk* around Raccoon River Park (the walk around the lake is 3.2 miles).

The estimated incidence of placenta accreta spectrum pregnancies has quadrupled since the 1980s, from 1 in 1250 births to 1 in 272 births. The rates of placenta accreta, increta and percreta have risen parallel to the overall cesarean rate in the United States.
We will meet near the playground and do one loop around the lake. During the walk attendees can talk with each other about their birth experiences.
Afterwards we will re-connect at the playground for anyone that wants to continue connecting. Strollers/kids are welcome. Please bring your own snacks/drinks, as needed. If you don't want to join us for walk portion, you can join us around 10:00am to talk with the ICAN of Central Iowa chapter leaders.
While not required to attend, you can register for the virtual 5k here: https://www.preventaccreta.org/accreta-awareness
*Please note this is NOT an official walk/run race. This is a meet-up for those wanting to complete the virtual 5k walk together and/or connect for birth/postpartum support. Attendees accept their own risks and liability by participating.
