iCan Bike Camp Rider Participant Sign Up

Success in learning to ride a bicycle is a major accomplishment for attendees and builds confidence and an improved self-image. Nothing is more inspiring than seeing a group of bike camp participants ride a conventional bike completely independently. By the end of the five day camp, over 80 percent of riders learn to ride their bikes completely independently.

iCan Bike Camp, a collaboration between i Can Shine and the Autism Society of Southeastern Wisconsin, uses a fleet of adapted bicycles, a specialized instructional program and trained staff members to teach individuals with disabilities how to ride a bike. Riders attend their scheduled 75-minute session at the same time each day for five consecutive days (M – F). All participants are physically assisted and encouraged by two volunteer “spotters” throughout the duration of the one-week camp.

As the camp progresses, the adapted bike is adjusted to gradually introduce more instability in an effort to challenge riders at their own individual pace. Participants will receive a bike helmet individually sized for them, and t-shirt. The week concludes with a touching and inspiring award ceremony!

Who should participate? (Requirements For Riders)

1. At least eight (8) years old
2. Have a disability
3. Able to walk without assistive device
4. Willing and able to wear a properly fitted bike helmet
5. Able to sidestep to both sides
6. Able to attend camp all five (5) days
7. Maximum weight of 220 lbs.

Cost per rider for each week long session is $350.00 /members and $400.00/non-members. There is a 7 day cancellation policy for this camp. If you do not cancel 7 days or more prior to the first day of camp, you will be charged in full.

This year's location will be Forest Park Middle School in Franklin, WI.

• Camp dates: July 28-August 1, 2025
• Each rider will be scheduled for a 75-minute session, each of the five days of camp. The session they are scheduled into will remain consistent throughout the week.
• Session times are as follows:
• 8:30 - 9:45 a.m.
• 10:05 - 11:20 a.m.
• 11:40 a.m. - 12:55 p.m.
• 2 :00 - 3:15 p.m.
• 3 :35 - 4:50 p.m.

Final session confirmations will be emailed to participants. Once a time slot is assigned, that scheduled time will remain the same throughout the duration of the camp.
