About this Event
Join us for two insiteful design presentations by Ray Booth and Jessica Helgerson.
Ray Booth is an architecturally trained designer and partner at the prestigious McALPINE firm. His innovative approach to design infuses spaces with a keen sense of place and tranquility as well as layered and bold details, speaking to each individual client and setting. Based out of studios in Nashville and New York City, Ray creates homes across the country that are strikingly sophisticated and wonderfully livable at the same time and is a master of modern elegance. Before his design presentation he will be signing his new book "The Expressive Home:Architecture and Interiors".
Jessica Helgerson is an interior designer who grew up between Southern California and France, an upbringing that deeply shaped her design sensibility. After a brief stint in architecture, she founded her own design studio in Portland Oregon in 2000 to pursue a more personal vision. More than twenty-five years later, the firm has grown beyond its founder, yet remains guided by Helgerson’s ethos: responsive design rooted in what is right for the place, the building, and the client. Jessica is also a restless dreamer and schemer, and loves imagining new creative avenues for her studio to explore. Some of those have included - an installation gallery in the front of the JHID office, XUXO - a collaborative importing and promoting the crafts of indigenous communities in Mexico, - an effort aimed at supporting non-profits working to end homelessness, and most recently the opening of a Paris branch of JHID which is finally allowing her to bring those two halves of herself together in her design work.
