New Year’s Day training, Hatsu Geiko at the new IBJJA location at NOON!Many traditional Japanese art practitioners observe Hatsu Geiko (初稽古) in and outside Japan. Since Jiu-Jitsu is a Japanese art we adopted the tradition over 13 years ago.
It started in olden samurai times around the 15th century and adopted in modern times around 1885.
Jigoro Kano, the founder of Judo started it in his headquarters dojo at that time and it has become a national custom.
Unlike New Year’s resolutions, that generally fail, Hatsu Geiko is a celebration of renewal, rededication, and spirit.
Please come join us for lots of rounds and chatting with Teammates from other Academies! Plenty of mat space this year (2200 sq feet).
