IBC 2024 Code Changes Seminar

AIA Spartanburg and CSI Greenville present a full day/half day seminar for local area design professionals and code officials with an ICC official to walk us through the code updates from IBC 2021 to IBC 2024 seminar is eligible for Continued Education credits

(Attendees who prefer to only attend a half day seminar will conclude, full day seminar attendees will continue with the second half of the day)

2024 IBC Significant Changes

This seminar reviews and analyzes selected significant changes from the 2021 to the 2024 edition of the International Building Code (IBC). Although the focus of the presentation is on revisions to the IBC fire- and life safety provisions, additional areas of discussion include accessibility, construction materials, and building services. The seminar assists building officials, fire officials, plans examiners, inspectors and design professionals in identifying the specific code changes that have occurred and understanding the reasoning behind the changes.

Douglas W. Thornburg, AIA, CBO, is currently Vice-President and Technical Director of Products and Services for the International Code Council (ICC) where he provides administrative and technical leadership for the ICC product development activities. Prior to employment with ICC in 2004, he was in private practice as a code consultant and educator on building codes for 9 years. Doug also spent 10 years with the International Conference of Building Officials (ICBO) where he served as Vice-President/Education. In his current role, Doug also continues to create and present building code seminars nationally and has developed numerous educational texts and resource materials. He was presented with ICC’s inaugural Educator of the Year Award in 2008, recognizing his outstanding contributions in education and training. A graduate of Kansas State University and a registered architect, Doug has over 43 years of experience in building code training and administration. He has authored a variety of code-related support publications, including the IBC Illustrated Handbook and the Significant Changes to the International Building Code.
