About this Event
ABOUT THE EVENT
UCL's ongoing contributions to digital humanities research and teaching, specifically through its Department of Information Studies (DIS) and the UCL Centre for Digital Humanities (UCLDH), have significantly influenced our new book - Intelligent Computing for Cultural Heritage: Global Achievements and China's Innovations and the book series - Digital Humanities and Intelligent Computing. For this one-day book launch and workshop, we invite chapter authors and experts in the field to give talks, and lunch and refreshments are also provided throughout the day to facilitate scholarly networking. With this event, we will not only celebrate the current achievements in the field but also mark a stepping stone towards a more connected future of digital humanities.
ABOUT THE BOOK
As part of a biannual book series, Digital Humanities and Intelligent Computing, this edited volume brings together views and practices in digital humanities and intelligent computing of cultural heritage from different regions, including Asia, Europe, Africa, North America and Australia. It offers innovative approaches and case studies related to humanities data and digital methods, with a focus on digital humanities research and pedagogy, cultural heritage organisation and preservation, in particular the development of digital repositories and methods for cultural heritage in China and around the Globe. Each case study highlights unique cultural characteristics and academic histories, resulting in diverse development priorities and thematic directions. However, this diversity can also lead to imbalances and isolation within the field. To gain a better understanding of the complex trends in the development of the digital humanities, this book offers valuable insights from case studies and research practices, which presents global contributions from scholars and institutions.
Intelligent Computing for Cultural Heritage: Global Achievements and China's Innovations will be published with Taylor & Francis in July 2024.
