Iain Matthews
Iain Matthews is a founder member of the folk-rock band Fairport Convention, writing and performing with the group from 1967 to 1969. In 1970 Iain then went on to form his own band, Matthew’s Southern Comfort, hitting the UK number one with his own take on the Joni Mitchell song ‘Woodstock’.
Iain Matthews is one of the finest British exponents of the ‘Americana’ sound; and since his departure from Fairport Convention this is an avenue that he has explored to great effect. For many years Iain has been based in America, where he had been able to hone his songwriting and interpretational skills, catching the attention of such influential figures as Michael Nesmith (of the Monkees) and The Eagles.
This is a rare opportunity to see this top-class singer-songwriter in an intimate small venue setting.

Plumhall
Plumhall (Michelle Plum and Nick B Hall) are critically acclaimed songwriters from the north of England, using a mesmerising combination of acoustic and electric instruments (occasionally with electronica) to create breathtaking soundscapes to their powerful original songs. They are renowned for their exquisite vocal harmonies and excellent musicianship. Their tour in support of Fairport Convention, in early 2024, has brought Plumhall’s music to a new audience; and seen them receive many favourable reviews. It gives us great pleasure to welcome them back to the Seven Arts stage.
