IABA DC had its first Yalda Celebration in 2023, and this year, we are thrilled to expand our programming to include an award ceremony to recognize notable Iranian American legal professionals in our community. Join us for an evening of cultural celebration and great company as we celebrate the accomplishments of our members and look forward to the year ahead.

Shabeh Yalda—or the night of Yalda—has its roots tracing back to ancient Persia and has been celebrated for thousands of years. Aligning with the winter solstice, this holiday symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness. Yalda celebrations are marked by communities coming together to share joy, stories, poetry, music, and festive foods. In the spirit of Yalda’s time-honored tradition, we practice this ritual annually to build and uplift our community.
