Have you ever wondered how God can use you as a baker, grill master, outdoor enthusiast, scientist and more! God has given each of us gifts and talents that He wants us to use. We are excited to welcome all kids who have completed preschool - 5th grade to I Wonder - a week of God-centered workshops for kids. Monday - Thursday, participants will enjoy skill building and teaching in the workshop they choose. On Friday, we invite the entire family out for a showcase of projects and outdoor movie night. Register early as all workshops have capacity limits.
Please select one workshop per child. There is a $10 supply fee for each workshop. All supplies are included. Scholarships are available. Please contact Melinda Green ([email protected])
Workshop Descriptions:
Curious Explorers (PreK-Kindergarten): This week, our younger kids will explore the many small wonders of God’s creations through play, crafts, outdoor exploration, story time and more.
Dramatic Movement for Young Actors (Grades K-5): Participants will learn different styles of dramatic performances, role-playing skills and techniques. During the week, they will learn a skit that will performed at the New Life Church Sunday Worship Service on July 4.
Come Grow With Us Garden Workshop (Grades 1-5): It’s time to get dirty, use some creativity and create projects to add to your home garden. Projects include- Fairy/Troll/Dinosaur Terrarium, Succulent Planters, Garden Luminary, and Bee Watering Station with Ladybug Garden Golf Balls.
Young Wizards STEM Workshop (Grades 1-3): STEM is an approach to learning and development that integrates the areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics. In this workshop, your child will participate in fun and engaging activities that include problem solving and creativity. Activities include constructing umbrellas, creating the longest paper chain, blooming flowers, and more!
Sweet Treats (Grades 1-5): In this workshop, you’ll bake sweet treats by following recipes and working together with others. You’ll also learn how to decorate cookies and cakes.
Soccer (Grades 2-5): Participants will learn the fundamentals of soccer. They will engage in drills, learn ball management and team work.
Ukelele Building Workshop (Grades 2-5): Participants will engage in discussion, demonstration, and hands-on experience on the assembly of a soprano ukulele. While the neck and body will be pre-made, the students will assemble and decorate the rest of the ukulele themselves. The goals of this workshop are to encourage and develop self-confidence, creativity, and an interest in music. Come have fun and build a cool UKE!
Outdoor Exploration (Grades 3-5): Join the New Life Cadet Leaders as they teach you how to build and paint a birdhouse, construct marshmallow and spaghetti towers, create pop bottle launchers and work on marksmanship skills.
Grill Masters (Grades 3-5): Participants will learn how to prepare foods for the grill and proper techniques. Gas grill will be used during this workshop.
Crochet & Italian language (Grades 3-5): Participants will learn how to crochet. During the week they will learn different stitch techniques and work on a project they will be able to take home at the end of the week. As a fun addition, they will learn basic words of the Italian language as the workshop instructor is fluent in English and Italian.
*Masks are strongly encouraged, but not required.
