Guest Panel and Author's talk with Elizabeth Todd-Breland

Historian and educator Elizabeth Todd-Breland, author of , will discuss the memoir, legacy, and lasting impact of her co-author, the late Chicago Teachers Union President Karen Lewis. Lewis’s leadership and values remain deeply relevant as educators, organizers, and cultural institutions that stand for democracy, diversity, equity, and inclusion face increasing challenges. Dr. Todd-Breland will be joined by former students of Lewis, who will share firsthand reflections on how Lewis contributed to their sense of justice, civic responsibility, and commitment to public service.
Panelists include:
- Micheal Crawford, PhD., Illinois House of Representative for the 31st District
- Sekordri Ojo, educator and founder of youth empowerment organization, L.E.A.P
- Raquel Flores-Clemons, archivist and Head of the Vivian G. Harsh Research Collection.
Together, the panel will highlight the lasting impact that educators can have across generations.
