'I Declare' Youth Art Making Event We invite you to join us at Art Saint Louis on Saturday, October 1, 2022 for our I Declare youth art making event with activities from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This is free & open to the public.
Teaching artists Jasmine Raskas and Rosemary Ziegler will be leading two art projects designed for young people. Projects have to do with freedom of expression and declaring one's mind using visual art as the means to convey the message.
For ‘I Declare,” artist & art educator Jasmine Raskas’ project will offer young people the opportunity to design their own expressive yard sign using stencils and acrylic paint markers. Participants will be encouraged to express themselves with positive phrases & words on their signs such as ‘believe in yourself’, ‘good vibes’, ‘be kind’, and ‘spread love’. Artist & art educator Rosemary Ziegler’s project will encourage participants to use chalkboards to express themselves, focusing on concepts of “I am”, “I Believe,” and “I will” or “I feel” as a starting point for using words & art to declare state of mind.
The 'I Declare' two art projects will be held October 1 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Art Saint Louis by our two Teaching Artists along with volunteers. To volunteer for 'I Declare' email us at [email protected] before September 8. Please, no phone calls.
'I Declare' is presented by Art Saint Louis with generous support from Regional Arts Commission and in partnership with DEPSI (Downtown Engagement Project Safety Initiative).
This event is presented in conjunction with the Art Saint Louis Fall 2022 juried art exhibit, "Declaration" beginning September 24 and on view through October 20. Join us for a free public reception in the ASL Gallery Saturday, October 1 from 5-7 p.m.
Art Saint Louis is located at 1223 Pine Street in downtown St. Louis. The Gallery is free & open to the public M-F 8 a.m.-4 p.m. & Sat. 9 a.m.-3 p.m. We are closed Sundays, holidays (Sept. 3-5) and between exhibits (Sept. 12-23).
