Please join us for our Ho-onko seminar with guest speaker, Rev. Tadao Koyama, from the Tacoma Buddhist Temple. The subject of the seminar is "The Goeiden, Godensho, and Shinran Shonin: A Close Look at Hōonkō"Register at: https://seattlebetsuin.org/event/ho-onko-seminar-2026/
About Hōonkō:
Shinran Shonin (1173-1262), the founder of our Jōdo Shinshū tradition, passed away on January 16, 1262. For Jōdo Shin Buddhists, Hōonkō (報恩講) is the most important observance of the year. “Hōon” means to “repay or return one’s gratitude” and “kō” refers to “a gathering.”
