About this Event
You've spent years building expertise in the lab. But what happens when your research holds real-world potential, and you're not sure what to do with it?
Hutch Launch: Lab to Founder is a bootcamp-style program designed specifically for scientists and researchers who are curious about entrepreneurship but don't know where to start. Over three intensive days, you'll move from concept to clarity — exploring what it actually takes to build a viable, sustainable business from your research.
Who This Is For
This cohort is built for Early Stage Investigators (ESI), including:
- Senior-Level Postdoctoral Trainees - doctoral degree holders in a defined period of mentored advanced training, with at least 2 years of postdoc experience
- Senior-Level Graduate Students - part-time or full-time students enrolled in an advanced degree program who have completed their thesis proposal (approximately 3rd year of grad school)
If your research feels ready for something bigger, this is where you find out what that actually means and how to get there.
This bootcamp runs from July 29-31, 2026 from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm with graduation on July 31st.
What to Expect
This isn't a lecture series, it's a working bootcamp. Here's what the three days look like:
- Hands-on, interactive sessions designed for you to apply what you're learning directly to your own research and ideas, in real time
- Guest speakers who've made the leap from research to venture and can speak to what that transition actually looks like
- Mentor and ecosystem networking to connect you with the people and resources that can support your next move
- Dedicated work time to stress-test your idea against the realities of the market
- A Readiness Evaluation at the end of the three days — a structured, honest look at where you stand and what your next steps might look like. No pressure, no pitch competition. Just clarity.
Participation Fee
Participation requires a $250 commitment fee. Fee covers lodging at a hotel in the Baltimore Inner Harbor and meals.
