Have you ever wanted to write the story of your family journey in disability?
We invite you to join us as Charles and Jo Hewlett share their family story, including the process of writing their book, "Hurting Hope" followed by our Annual General Meeting.
During the Hewlett's 40 minute presentation, there will be opportunities to ask questions and learn from their experiences of writing and sharing their very personal journey.
Attendees are also welcome to stay and attend Disability Connect Inc’s Annual General Meeting after the presentation. Hear about our services and advocacy, influencing positive change for disabled people and their families as we celebrate our mahi.
About Charles and Jo Hewlett:
Charles and Jo are parents of three children, including one who died from cancer at the age of 13, and another who lives with profound intellectual and physical disabilities.
Charles is the National Leader of the Baptist Churches in New Zealand. Prior to this he spent 13 years on the staff at Carey Baptist College, the last eight of these as Principal. Before that he was a pastor. He is deeply committed to seeing the Baptist Union of New Zealand being a collective of thriving faith communities bringing gospel renewal to people and places in local neighbourhoods.
Joanne is an art teacher in a primary school, with qualifications in music and education. Until recently she has participated as a lay member of the Medical Council of New Zealand and also as a ministerial appointment on the Nurses Council of New Zealand, as a voice for those living with disability.
