Many residents of Hurricane receive electricity from Hurricane City Power, one of 2,000 public power utilities that provide electricity to 55 million people across the country. We have been serving power since 1975 and are proud to serve our community! As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary, we want to share it with YOU!
Public power utilities are community-owned, which means the people of Hurricane are included in making key decisions about our energy future. There are many reasons why Hurricane continues to own and operate its electric utility.
We are committed to building for the future to ensure reliable, affordable, sustainable, and customer-focused service to our community for many years to come. That means we're working hand-in-hand with customers and community leaders to make sure our utility reflects the long-term goals and needs of members of our community. Knowing our community and its needs helps us keep homes, schools, businesses, and public places powered year-round.
As a not-for-profit public power utility, our loyalty is to our customers – not stockholders. We work hard to ensure that our rates remain stable and we provide consistent, reliable power. We take pride in having a locally appointed advisory board that has open meetings the second Wednesday of each month at 3 pm, at the Hurricane Power Department at 526 W 600 N.
Please join us in celebrating 50 YEARS OF PUBLIC POWER on Tuesday, October 28th from 4-7pm! The celebration will be held at 63 South 100 West, Hurricane. We will be sharing why we’re proud to be your public power utility, with fun activities and ways to participate. We will have food vendors, bounce houses, bucket truck rides, pole climbing and high voltage demonstrations in addition to fun prizes and giveaways. We hope to see you there!
