Join the Port Huron Museums in welcoming Douglas Brookes, as he takes you to the vacationland of the past, in his presentation on Huronia & Gratiot beaches!

Douglas Brookes, author of Up North: St. Louis's Colonies on Lake Huron in the Golden Age of Travel, will offer a slide presentation about Huronia Beach and Gratiot Beach, Port Huron's two summer resorts along Lake Huron between 1882 and 1950. We'll explore the architecture and the history of this vacation playground that with its cottages and the Windermere Hotel made Port Huron famous throughout the Midwest as a grand place to spend the summer.
