About this Event
Join us for this unique collaborative program offered by the Torggler Museum of Art and the city of Newport News. Participants will board one of the city's new trolleys for a multi-stop tour of sites and spaces related to the legacy of the Huntington family in Newport News. The tour will examine sites related to Collis P. Huntington, founder of the shipyard; his son Archer Huntington, founder of the Mariners' Museum; and Anna Hyatt Huntington, whose work is on view at the Torggler in the exhibition A Grand Menagerie. Historian and city museum curator J. Michael Moore will be our primary guide on this fascinating historical journey.
Meet at the Yoder Barn (660 Hamilton Drive, Newport News) by 8:45am for a 9:00am trolley departure. A maximum of 20 guests can be accommodated on a first-come, first-served basis. We will stop for lunch (purchase on your own) or you may bring a bagged lunch. The trolley will return to the Yoder barn at 3:00pm. Wear sturdy walking shoes because we will both walk and ride! Tour is rain or shine.
