Have you experienced the thrill of finding a Monarch butterfly egg on a milkweed leaf? or been surprised to find tiny Black Swallowtail caterpillars on your dill plants? Would you recognize a Tiger Swallowtail egg if you saw one?
Join us to hunt for real butterflies with COD Horticulture Instructor Frank Balestri.Visit COD's Butterfly Garden and learn about host plants for different pollinators, tour COD's Greenhouse, and then head to the Russell R. Kirt Prairie to hunt for eggs and caterpillars of various butterflies in the wild. Which ones will you find?
Based on the nature of the activities, spots are intentionally limited (max 15).Park at Fawell E and meet at the Butterfly Garden in front of COD's TEC building (425 22nd Street, Glen Ellyn)
