Join us for a high-energy evening celebrating the rich musical traditions of Central and Eastern Europe! This vibrant and eclectic concert embodies the spirit of folk musicβparticularly Hungarian and Romani influencesβas interpreted by major classical composers from the 18th to the 20th century.
From Haydn's witty and theatrical symphony no 60 in C major πΌπ πππ π‘πππ‘π‘π, full of musical humor and unexpected twists, the program then journeys through Ligetiβs playful πππ π»π’πππππππ π΅πππππππ π·πππππ and BartΓ³kβs deeply rooted 44 π·π’ππ πππ ππ€π πππππππ , which vividly capture the sounds of rural Hungary. The brilliance and flair of Weberβs π΄πππππ‘π π π ππππ π’ππππππ π is followed by Brahms' beloved π»π’πππππππ π·πππππ providing a rousing conclusion with rich harmonies and rhythmic vigor.
Together, these works offer a dynamic and engaging portrait of how Eastern European folk traditions have inspired composers across generations.
