About Humble Design

Humble Design serves individuals, families, and veterans emerging from homelessness by transforming empty houses into welcoming homes using donated furniture and household goods. Our warehouses are curated by design teams that personalize homes based on our clients’ needs and preferences. More than a makeover, it’s a start over. Please help us open more doors by volunteering or donating.

We assist the transformation of lives in Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, San Diego, and Seattle.

COVID-19

In support of our efforts to maintain the health and safety of volunteers, staff, and the families we serve, we are requiring health screenings for anyone entering Humble Design facilities. If you have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, we ask that you wait a minimum of 14 days, and are symptom free before coming to volunteer. Face coverings are required. If you have a health issue that makes wearing a face mask unsafe, please wait until those recommendations are lifted to volunteer. We ask our volunteers and employees to be aware, and practice social distancing measures while in the warehouse.

American Society of Interior Designers, Inc. COVID-19 Waiver and Release In consideration for my attendance at the California, San Diego Chapter of ASID event, the receipt and sufficiency of which is hereby acknowledged, I hereby agree to the following:

• The Coronavirus/COVID-19 is highly contagious and dangerous and there is risk of contracting Coronavirus/COVID-19 if I attend the event;

• The U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (“CDC”), and other federal, and California public health authorities, recommend wearing a face mask, and practice social and physical distancing to prevent the spread of Coronavirus/COVID-19;

• California, San Diego Chapter of ASID cannot guarantee that I will not become infected with, or spread to another attendee, the Coronavirus/COVID-19;

• The risk of becoming exposed to and/or infected by the Coronavirus/COVID-19 may result from the actions, omissions, or negligence of California, San Diego Chapter of ASID and the host for the event, and their officers, directors, employees, agents, and contractors, or from myself and other attendees, during the California, San Diego Chapter of ASID event; and I must comply with all California, San Diego Chapter of ASID procedures to reduce the spread of Coronavirus/COVID-19 while attending the event and if I do not comply with the procedures, I may be immediately removed from the event without any recourse. Additionally, I attest that:

• I, as well as all household members, are not experiencing any Coronavirus/COVID-19 symptoms, such as cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat, or new loss of taste or smell;

• I, as well as all household members, have not been diagnosed with Coronavirus/COVID19 within the past 30 days;

• I, as well as all household members, have not knowingly been exposed to anyone diagnosed with Coronavirus/COVID-19 within the past 30 days;

• I, as well as all household members, have not traveled outside of the country or to any U.S. city or state considered to be a “hot spot” for Coronavirus/COVID-19 infections within the past 30-days;

• I am following all CDC recommended guidelines as much as possible and limiting my exposure to the Coronavirus/COVID-19; and

• I am following all applicable state and local rules and regulations related to the Coronavirus/COVID-19. California, San Diego Chapter of ASID has put in place preventative measures during this event to reduce the spread of the Coronavirus/COVID-19, including, but not limited to:

• Mandatory mask wearing for all attendees;

• No physical contact during the event with any other attendees;

• Staying at least six feet away from other attendees;

• Allowing California, San Diego Chapter of ASID or one of its representatives to take my temperature prior to entrance into the event;

• [include other preventative measures here, such as seat assignments or discouraging coffee breaks and other non-essential gatherings] Therefore, I hereby release and agree to hold the American Society of Interior Designers, Inc., and California, San Diego Chapter of ASID, the host for the event, and their officers, directors, employees, and agents, harmless from, and waive on behalf of myself, my heirs, and any personal representatives any and all causes of action, claims, demands, damages, costs, judgements, expenses and compensation for damage or loss to myself and/or property that may be caused by any negligence, act, or failure to act of the California, San Diego Chapter of ASID, or that may otherwise arise in any way in connection with my attendance at the event. I understand that the American Society of Interior Designers, Inc. is not hosting or providing this event. Furthermore, I understand that this waiver discharges the American Society of Interior Designers, Inc., and California, San Diego Chapter of ASID from any and all liability or claim that I, my heirs, or any personal representatives may have against the American Society of Interior Designers, Inc., and California, San Diego Chapter of ASID with respect to any bodily injury, illness, death, medical treatment, or property damage that may arise from, or in connection to, my attendance at the event. California, San Diego Chapter of ASIDdoes not assume any responsibility for or obligation to provide me with financial or other assistance, including but not limited to medical, health, or disability benefits or insurance. I expressly waive any such claim for compensation or liability on the part of California, San Diego Chapter of ASID of ASID in the event of injury, illness, or medical expenses incurred by me.

I HAVE CAREFULLY READ THIS WAIVER AND RELEASE; I FULLY UNDERSTAND THE TERMS CONTAINED IN IT; I UNDERSTAND THAT, BY SIGNING, I AM RENOUNCING SUBSTANTIAL RIGHTS; I AM SIGNING FREELY AND WITHOUT CONSTRAINT; AND I WANT MY SIGNATURE TO CONSTITUTE A FULL DISCHARGE FROM ANY LIABILITY WHATSOEVER TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
