About this Event

Welcome to Humanities on Tap!

Think your favorite local brew is just a drink? Think again! Join PhD researcher Emma Todd for a fascinating (and fun) deep dive into how German immigrants used beer to build their identity in America.

From the golden age of brewing to the drama of Prohibition, discover how beer shaped the culture of our city and what happened when the taps were forced to run dry. Whether you're a history buff or a craft beer lover, come grab a seat and learn the "spirited" story of the immigrants who built the bars we love today. Prost!

Humanities on Tap is a monthly series of community presentations bringing the humanities to life across Columbus. Each gathering offers an easygoing space to explore big ideas, hear fresh perspectives and connect with others. Led by local experts and storytellers, these talks make learning engaging, approachable and fun—perfect for curious minds throughout our community.
