Humanhood:Sync Movement Practice

Humanhood:Sync is a practice of listening to the body through movement. Created by Julia and Rudi aka HUMANHOOD, the method first emerged as a practice designed to help professional dancers connect more deeply with the essence behind their movement. Over time, it revealed itself as something much more universal: a practice accessible to everyone, regardless of movement or dance experience (more information on https://humanhood.net/sync)
We spend so much of our lives thinking, interpreting, planning and receiving information. What is it like to spend this time simply sensing?
We will start the practice by going through a sequence of slow movements which are simple, yet become powerful when done with attention. I will guide you through the process with my voice, softly directing the attention to the body. From there, the movement gradually becomes more dynamic and instinctive, as we let go of deliberate control and connect with the rhythm, music and the energy of the group.
At the heart of the practice are these questions:
- What happens when we stay with a sensation without immediately thinking about or interpreting it?
- How would our bodies move if we softened the tension and control that anticipates movement or stops it?
The practice is open to every • body. No previous experience needed. You don't need to be a dancer or know how to move in any particular way. As long as you have a body, I invite you to this space.
When: 25 October (Sunday) 12:30. Please arrive starting from 12:15 to give yourself some time to settle before we begin.
Duration: Approximately 1.5 hours
Where: Carrer de Pallars 147, YogaOne Poblenou, Barcelona
Contribution: €15
Registration link: https://forms.gle/aSqXbsCZWeDeaJni7
Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move freely. Personally I find that loose clothing that doesn't fit close to the body makes it easier to relax. During the practice we will be in socks or barefoot.
Practice will be held in English.
