This webinar-sytle session will provide a comprehensive exploration of essential anatomical concepts tailored to the needs of communication professionals. We play a crucial role in conveying accurate information, and a solid understanding of human anatomy is indispensable for interpreting medical and anatomical terminology effectively.
This interactive session delves into the fundamental structures and functions of the human body, focusing on areas relevant to interpreters, including the musculoskeletal system, sensory organs, and key anatomical terminology. Participants will gain insights into the mechanics of movement, the sensory perception process, and how to accurately convey complex anatomical concepts in sign language.
Led by Anatomical Demonstrator, Amy Manson, from the University of Liverpool, the session combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications. By the end of this session, delegates will be equipped with a solid foundation in human anatomy, empowering them to provide more accurate and contextually relevant interpretations in medical and anatomical contexts.
Learning Outcomes to follow:
This 3-hour online workshop aims to enhance communicaion professional practice for the Deaf community by imparting a foundational understanding of human body anatomy. During the session, participants will delve into the following areas:
Explore gross anatomical systems: Understand the fundamental functions, organ locations, and visual characteristics of bodily organs.
Examine potential system anomalies: Gain insights into various disorders and irregularities that can affect these anatomical systems.
The workshop encourages active participation, providing an interactive platform to foster engagement and knowledge sharing. Attendees will also have the chance to seek clarifications and engage in discussions by posing questions throughout the session.
