Hull & District Trades Council are proud to announce a lecture/presentation cerebrating One hundred years since the General Strike. In 1926, British Trade Unions went on a general strike. This challenged the rule of the rich and powerful. In some parts of the country, Trade Unions actually ran society! We are celebrating this historic event at the Union Mash Up. We are pleased to announce that Tony Collins who has specialised in researching the trade union and Labour movement in Hull will speak and present pictures and personal accounts on the general strike in Hull. Find out what trade unionists in Hull were doing in that epic event. There will of course be an opportunity for socialising afterwards. All TU members and friends welcome. There is a free first drink for all who attend. This should be a great opportunity to learn more about Hull’s Radical past and its people who made our city a far better place to live and work.
