HUG-A-TREE YOUTH PREVENTATIVE SEARCH AND RESCUE PROGRAM/HIKE
About this Event
Sometimes, kids can find that their parents have gone and gotten lost on a family hike! This fun program will help those kids be reunited safely and quickly!
Join 52 Hike Challenge--North Carolina staff and Umstead State Park Rangers for the Hug-A-Tree Youth Preventative Search and Rescue Program. This fun and interactive program, endorsed by the National Association of Search and Rescue, as well as the Los Angeles County Sheriff Search and Rescue Teams will keep kids and guardians engaged on what to do if parents can't be found! The program will include a video and practical exercises for the information provided. We have numerous private sponsors including Beyond 52, REI, Lotus Outfitters, US Forest Service, and Friends of Umstead Park. Gifts, handouts and refreshments will be provided. After the presentation, a short 1 mile optional hike will be held.
There is no cost for this event and is one of the first in North Carolina but hopefully not the last. The attendance is limited so please go to the Umstead State Park website and ensure your family a reservation.
You MUST register with the Umstead State Park website or use the QR code posted here. Ages 7-10 and must have parent or guardian.
