Speaker Bio:
Jeffrey Owens is a former Honolulu Police Department (HPD) Hostage Negotiator, Division Commander, and experienced business professional who calls on his real-world experience of applying The Power of Respect tm to increase leadership influence, improve workplace relationships, and advance personal and organizational success.
Jeff retired from the HPD in 2002 at the rank of Major after a career that spanned nearly three decades during which, among other accomplishments, he was on the first hostage negotiation team in Hawaii, resolving numerous incidents through the intentional application of The Power of Respect tm.
After leaving law enforcement he started his company, Transcend Inc. as a training and consulting company, then expanded to private detective and security services. During that time he was recruited by an international firm to take over their struggling Hawaii operation and in less than 3 years Jeff built it to become the second largest company of its type in Hawaii with over 600 employees Statewide and generating in excess of 18 million dollars a year.
In 2015 Jeff was one of the first 17 people in the world to be awarded the designation of Certified Threat Manager (CTM) by the Association of Threat Assessment Professionals, an internationally recognized designation awarded to practitioners who through proven real-world work, Board evaluation, and rigorous testing, have distinguished themselves as being “the best of the best” in understanding peoples behaviors in threat and violence assessment, prevention, and management.
Jeff is also a Certified Speaking Professional (CSP), the speaking professions highest earned award. Recipients are internationally recognized as being among the top speakers in the world.
In 2021 Jeff was inducted into the Hawaii Speakers Hall of Fame and into the international Virtual Speakers Hall of Fame in 2023.
